While selective collection of biowaste allows the diversion of significant quantities of waste from disposal, its main purpose is to produce valuable resources to benefit to local players, for instance renewable energy in the form of electricity, heat, and/or biomethane, as well as organic by-product that can be used as fertilisers or bio pesticides by local farmers. It is then possible to turn biowaste into a relevant, local resource that can reduce the environmental impact of territories, boost their local economy, generate jobs, and overall improve their resilience by reducing the need of food and energy imports. The DECISIVE project aims at provide an answer to the following question: how to move from a traditional waste management system to an eco-innovative, circular scheme enabling to close the nutrients loop?

The DECISIVE consortium is pleased to welcome you to its public conference, bringing together project partners and local speakers. The workshop will let you discover the DECISIVE project and its main findings, as well as the experience of local players regarding biowaste management and recovery.

INNOVATION TECHNOLOGICAL SYSTEMS S.r.l.ITS Energy Stirling Engines

ITS Energy, the only one Italian partner within the DECISIVE H2020 Program, is an “innovative company” founded in 2012, whose mission is an innovative development and production of high performance Stirling engines.

The company deals the biogas valorization produced by the anaerobic digestion composting plant, transforming it into electricity and hot water with Stirling technology. This technology provides an external combustion engine that works thanks to the heat exchange of an internal fluid under pressure (in this case helium) between the hot source and the cold part of the same engine, simultaneously producing electrical energy and thermal energy (hot water).
